Roman Wood is a cellist and new teacher in the Louisville area. He has recently graduated the University of Louisville, obtaining a bachelor’s degree in cello performance. He will be remaining at the University of Louisville for an additional two years to receive a degree in string pedagogy.
Wood has had the opportunity to play in various masterclasses for accomplished pedagogues across the nation. This includes Melissa Kraut, Mihai Tetel, Anthony Kitai, and his current professor, the accomplished Paul York.
Additionally, he has played and performed in a variety of settings. In the summer of 2016, Wood played with the Kentucky Ambassadors of Music in their European Tour, including performances in England, France, Germany, and Austria. He is currently a section cellist with the Cave Run Symphony Orchestra, as well as an gigging cellist (weddings, concerts, and other events). In the spring of 2022, Wood will solo with the University of Louisville Symphony Orchestra as a winner of the University of Louisville Concerto Competition.
