I am thrilled to share some wonderful news about one of my exceptional students, Jacob Wu! Jacob has achieved a remarkable milestone in his musical journey by winning a composition competition, and his piece "The Dance of the Phoenix" has been selected for performance at the prestigious Composers Today Symposium. This esteemed event will take place at the 2024 MTAC Convention held at the Hilton Los Angeles Airport Hotel at the end of June, organized by the Music Teachers' Association of California.

Jacob's accomplishment is a testament to his talent, dedication, and creativity in the field of music composition. As his teacher, I have had the joy of witnessing his growth and artistic development week after week. His passion for music is truly inspiring, and it reflects in every note he writes.

"The Dance of the Phoenix" is a composition that captivates with its rich blend of Chinese influences and modern techniques. Dr. Cho-Hyun Park, a brilliant pianist, beautifully brought Jacob's composition to life with her inspired and luminous interpretation. Her performance vividly portrays the colorful and authentic dance depicted in Jacob's music, taking listeners on a journey through its elegant, gentle, poetic, and dramatic contrasts.

Jacob's piece not only showcases his exceptional musical talent but also his unique ability to weave a contemporary vision that resonates with the new generation of listeners. It is a composition that paints a vivid picture, inviting us into a fairy tale crafted by Jacob's creative genius.

I invite you to experience "The Dance of the Phoenix" for yourself through the recording performed by Dr. Cho-Hyun Park. Click the link below to immerse yourself in this extraordinary musical journey crafted by Jacob Wu:
