Recently, a significant Contemporary Music Olympiad took place in the Music College of the Republic of Dagestan, Russia—the very place where my own musical journey began. It was here that I first studied music and composition under my dear teacher, Ramazan Fataliev, who has since become the Head of the Dagestan Composers’ Union. This makes the event even more meaningful to me.
At the Olympiad, each participant selected a contemporary composer and presented an analysis of their musical style and genres. I was deeply honored to be one of the featured composers, and the talented young musician Amina Magomedova chose my music for her presentation. With incredible dedication, she explored my compositions in various genres—instrumental, symphonic, vocal, and smaller piano forms like preludes—highlighting different aspects of my style. Her work was truly outstanding, and she won the Grand Prix!
A special thanks goes to Roshia Akayeva, Amina’s teacher, who made this all happen. She carefully connected all the points in my music, guiding Amina in preparing such a profound and detailed presentation. Her mentorship as a supervisor was invaluable, and without her dedication, this success wouldn’t have been possible.
What makes me happiest is that in my motherland, Dagestan, my voice was heard by so many people. After the Olympiad, I received messages from musicians eager to perform my music, leading to new collaborations and exciting projects in Russia. I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity and look forward to seeing my music continue to spread.
