Steinway Gallery Concert: A Celebration of Excellence

Last Saturday, on April 11th, we had a very special event at the Steinway Gallery. I was honored to be selected by Steinway & Sons as a contributor and invited, together with my students, to take part in this beautiful concert.

It truly felt like a gathering of some of the finest teachers and students. The level of performance throughout the day was exceptionally high. Every student played with such artistry and care, and the overall standard was truly professional.

A year ago, I was also invited as a STEP teacher in Steinway’s special program, where we had the opportunity to evaluate Boston grand pianos. These instruments impressed me deeply with their powerful, full sound, rich harmonics, and long sustain. Their tonal richness reflects Steinway’s legacy, including design principles rooted in the historic 1872 Steinway patent and the Duplex scale concept.

The Boston grand piano features an improved, responsive action designed by Steinway, using German-made components by Renner, crafted from high-quality materials and precision engineering. With a lower-tension scale design, it allows for a larger tapered soundboard, longer string length, and ultimately a richer, more resonant tone in a compact instrument. The wider tail design supports longer bass strings, and the spruce soundboard enhances vibration transfer for greater sustain and tonal depth.

I am deeply grateful for Steinway’s continued support of teachers and students. At that program, educators were also honored and received special diplomas, recognizing their dedication to developing not only musical skill but also character, responsibility, and artistic individuality in every student.

I am incredibly proud that my students performed alongside such outstanding young musicians and teachers from across San Diego. It was truly inspiring.

Looking ahead, I am excited to share that on May 31st at 2:00 PM, I will be participating as a teacher in the upcoming teachers’ concert, where teachers will perform for students on this beautiful instrument. Everyone is warmly invited.

Thank you to Steinway for being such an important part of our musical journey for so many years. It is a true honor to share such meaningful musical expiriences with my students and to be included in this inspiring community!
